2015 F-150 Could Be All Aluminum

News doesn’t get much bigger than the 2015 F-150. Reports indicate Ford is plans to make a huge leap forward with their best-selling pickup truck at next month’s Detroit Auto Show.

Car and Driver is saying that the 2015 F-150 may debut as the first all-aluminum truck in the segment. This rumor would explain why the delay of the F-150 launch was reportedly connected to an aluminum-related setback.

The significance of an aluminum body is that, if true, the truck would be hundreds of pounds lighter – aluminum is more durable, yet lighter than steel – which could do wonders for the F-150’s fuel economy. Nonetheless, Ford will have to be careful with how it rolls out this next generation workhorse. All eyes will be on the F-150 at the Detroit show next month. We’ll be sure to let you know how it goes.
