The rumors were true: Not only did the 2015 Ford F-150 make its first appearance at the North American International Auto Show, it is indeed the first pickup truck to feature all-aluminum body plating. Ford’s advances in metallurgy – research and development that they say took 25 years – has shaved seven hundred pounds off the gross body weight of the truck.
If high-strength lightweight metals aren’t what you look for when you’re buying a truck, don’t worry. The new F-150 is jam-packed with new technologies, including advanced safety features, around-view camera systems, larger infotainment displays, and more. The truck bed alone is state of the art, with new bed-lights, retractable rear-step, and a tailgate that drops automatically after pressing button on the key fob.
